New Study Shows the Great Benefits of Medical Cannabis
Being a cannabis doctor in Daytona Beach, Florida, for years, we’ve seen the stigma that comes with using marijuana for its medicinal properties.
However, a new study showed that patients who use marijuana have a better quality of life compared to patients who are non-cannabis users.
This study conducted by researchers from Johns Hopkins that partnered with the Realm of Caring, which is a nonprofit dedicated to marijuana research, gathered data from 1,276 patients that were associated with the organization. From there, they had participants who used medical marijuana products, as well as to non-users, to compare and observe the outcomes of both sets of patients.
Researchers surveyed patients from April 2016 to February 2018 and saw significant changes in individuals who used medical marijuana in their treatment. Those who used cannabis recorded immense improvements in their quality of life, as well as health satisfaction compared to the patients who were non-users. They also experienced less pain, anxiety symptoms, and depression compared to those who did not use medical marijuana.
According to Jonathan Hoggard, Ph.D., CEO of Realm of Caring, the most dramatic discovery in this research was that the use of medicinal cannabis resulted in 39% fewer ER visits and 46% fewer hospital submissions.
